Welcome to Nerdy Girl Nutrition -- an evidence-based approach to eating that recommends you never diet again
Welcome to Nerdy Girl Nutrition!
Nerdy Girl, private nutrition practice and your resource for factual, evidence-based information, was founded by Samantha Finkelstein -- a weight-neutral and anti-diet Registered Dietitian Nutritionist currently serving the San Francisco Bay Area, and others remotely. Samantha wears the badge of "Nerdy Girl" proudly because she is constantly blown away by the incredible things our bodies are doing on a microscopic level at any given second to keep us alive, thriving, and in near-perfect balance. She loves to stay up on current nutrition science so she can keep communicating what we know about our bodies, and guiding people down a path to trusting their bodies' signals instead of fearing them. Most importantly, she knows (because of well-done research and what we know about metabolism) that eating in extremes, dieting, and ruling out food groups is not only ineffective, but harmful. She has made it her life's work to spread the truth about the food that fuels us, and to help her clients reclaim their relationships with food and their bodies.
Samantha completed her education through California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and through the Morrison Chartwells Dietetic Internship, affiliated with Compass Group North America. Since embarking upon her journey toward becoming an RD, Samantha has had a passion for delivering evidence-based information to those of you who want real answers about the food the fuels us. Samantha fervently believes that we all deserve to have our own positive relationship with our food, and that this is the key to long term wellness. She has seen through her experience that this healthy relationship usually does not come from fad diets and extreme eating patterns, but from balanced, intuitive eating.
